Personal Statement

Professor Atinuke Titilola Lano-Maduagu is a faculty member in the Department of Science and Technology Education, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Nigeria, where she specialises in Nutrition and Dietetics. She holds a National Certificate in Education in Home Economics from Lagos State College of Education (now AOCOED), a Bachelor of Education in Home Economics — First Class Honours — from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where she also won the Best Graduating Student Award in the Department of Home Economics Education (1986), a Master of Science in Human Nutrition from the University of Ibadan (1992), and a Ph.D. in Nutrition and Dietetics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (2013). She joined the University of Lagos in 2004 as a Lecturer II and has progressively risen to her current rank of Associate Professor (2020), having previously served as a Principal Lecturer and Head of the Home Economics Education Department at Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education, Oto-Ijanikin, from 1987 to 2004. Her research interests span nutritional status assessment, food science and sensory evaluation, coronary heart disease risk factors, adolescent nutrition, and the integration of entrepreneurial skills in foods and nutrition education. She has authored a book, published over 25 articles in both national and international peer-reviewed journals, and presented papers at conferences across Nigeria, Ghana, Uganda, Sierra Leone, and Trinidad. She is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nutrition Society of Nigeria, the Home Economics Research Association of Nigeria (HERAN), the Home Economics Professional Association of Nigeria (HEPAN), and the International Federation for Home Economics, and has supervised over 66 undergraduate students since 2006.
