Personal Statement

Professor Funsho Azeez Olatunde is a Professor of Social Studies Pedagogy in the Department of Arts Education, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Akoka. Born on 2nd November 1967 in Somolu, Lagos, he is a seasoned curriculum specialist and teacher educator with over three decades of academic and professional experience.

He earned his Ph.D. in Curriculum/History Education (2005), M.Ed. in Curriculum/Social Studies Education (1995), and B.A. (Ed.) in History (1990), all from the University of Lagos. Since joining the University in 2010, he has risen through the ranks to full Professor in 2022, teaching and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research in Curriculum Studies and Social Studies Education.

His research interests include teacher effectiveness, civic and democratic education, curriculum innovation, ICT integration, and value re-orientation. He has published widely in reputable national and international journals and contributed to educational policy discourse in Nigeria.

Professor Olatunde has served as Sub-Dean, Coordinator of the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE), and Member of Senate. He is actively engaged in national curriculum development, teacher training, and educational consultancy initiatives across Nigeria.
