Dr. Yekinni Sunkanmi Afeez is a Lecturer II in the Department of Technology and Vocational Education, University of Lagos, where he assumed his first academic appointment in April 2026. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical/Electronic Technology Education (2021), a Master of Education in Industrial Technical Education (2015), and a Bachelor of Education in Technical Education (Electrical/Electronics) (2008), all from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka and the University of Ibadan respectively, as well as a Nigeria Certificate in Education in Electrical/Electronic Technology from Oyo State College of Education (2004).

His areas of specialisation are Technology/Technical Education and Electrical/Electronics Technology Education, with current research interests spanning emotional intelligence and workshop safety behaviour, virtual laboratory integration, 21st-century digital skills in technical education, and the recurriculation of engineering and technology programmes for Industry 5.0.

He has authored and co-authored over 13 articles in reputable national and international peer-reviewed journals — including the International Journal of Electrical Engineering & Education, Discover Education, and Design and Technology Education: An International Journal — and contributed a book chapter to an edited international volume published by IntechOpen, London.

He presented papers at several national and international conferences, including the LGT-UNN International Multidisciplinary Conference on Technology at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Prior to his appointment at the University of Lagos, he served as an Adjunct Lecturer in Technology Education at Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo (2023–2024), and is a Graduate Member of the Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered).
