Personal Statement
Dr. Olafare Oladimeji Festus is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Technology and Vocational Education, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Nigeria, where he has served since 2016, rising from Lecturer II through Lecturer I to his current rank of Senior Lecturer (2022).
He holds a Ph.D. in Educational Technology (2014), an M.Ed. in Educational Technology (2011), and a B.Sc.Ed. in Educational Technology (2006), all from the University of Ilorin. His areas of specialisation are Educational Technology and ICT in Education, with current research interests encompassing artificial intelligence in education, digital literacy, computer-based testing, blended learning, and entrepreneurship-oriented ICT integration.
A widely published scholar, he has authored and co-authored over 30 articles in reputable national and international peer-reviewed journals — including publications in Malaysia, Spain, Uganda, Indonesia, Pakistan, and India — contributed chapters to two international edited volumes, including a chapter in a Palgrave Macmillan publication on AI in educational broadcasting, co-edited a book published by the University of Lagos Press, and contributed to a volume published by Ahmadu Bello University Press.
He has presented conference papers nationally and internationally, including as Lead Paper Presenter at the AI and Education Conference of CITADEL, Burkina Faso (2023), and has participated in prestigious international research programmes including grants from the Siemens Stiftung Foundation (Germany), the FCDO Lancaster University Intervention Programme, the AFRETEC Teaching and Learning Pillar (Carnegie Mellon University Africa), and the Hub for Responsible Artificial Intelligence for an Education Innovation Research Network in Africa, as well as an ongoing TETfundNational Research Fund Grant.
He currently serves as Postgraduate Coordinator for the Department of Technology and Vocational Education, Board Member of the School of Postgraduate Studies, and member of the University of Lagos Ranking Committee, Quality Assurance and Servicom Committee, and Admission Committee of the School of Postgraduate Studies. He has supervised 3 completed Ph.D. theses, 15 completed M.Ed. projects, and 72 undergraduate students, and is a member of professional associations including the Association for Innovative Technology Integration in Education (AITIE) and the Association of Vocational and Technical Educators of Nigeria (AVTEN).
