Personal Statement
Abbas Aremu Rahman is Lecturer II in the Department of Arts Education, University of Lagos. He holds B. A. Ed., M. Ed. and Ph.D. Education Islamic Studies all from University of Lagos.
As the best graduating student of his programme, he joined the University of Lagos Academic staff as a Graduate Assistant in 2016, became Assistant Lecturer in October 2018 and now Lecturer II since October, 2024.
He has attended a number of conferences and Workshops where he did present papers in some. To his credit, he has published articles in reputable journals, written chapters in books, and graduate projects. His Ph.D. thesis which focuses on Development and Validation of Integrated Assessment Tools for Islamic Studies, Secondary Schools won a grant from the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) Lagos Epistemological Centre.
Dr. Rahman has been a teacher and school administrator since 2004. He has taught at various levels, from primary to tertiary. He has also taught on A’ Level programmes like Joint University Preliminary Examination Board (JUPEB). He is a Course Adviser to Education Islamic Studies students, member of various committees at the Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, and member of admission committee of University of Lagos.
Dr. Rahman is a member of professional organizations like National Association of Arabic and Islamic Studies Teachers (NATAIS), Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN), Institute of African and Diaspora Studies (IADS), Association of Behavioural Research Analysts and Psychometricians (AB-ReAP), International Students of Islamic Psychology (ISIP), to mention but a few. He is also a fellow of IIIT.
Outside the University, he is a JUPEB regular assessor. and academia, Aremu is an Impact Your World Leadership Academy Ambassador, a resource person at Leadership training and a pedagogical training expert.
Aremu is an early-career educator and a researcher passionate about fostering sustainable, holistic human development across intellectual, moral, social, spiritual, political, and economic domains. As an inspiring Theo-sopher, practised pedagogue, efficient educator, ICT-driven behavioural and psycho-spiritual analyst, and psychometrician, his ultimate goal is to develop holistic human capacities, providing relatively permanent and sustainable solutions to emerging human problems. He is married with Children.
