Prof. Adesoji A. Oni a Fulbright scholar and Rooney Scholar is a Professor and Head of the Department of Educational Foundations, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Nigeria.
He specializes in Sociology of Education and teaches Sociology of Education, Philosophy of Education and Comparative Education from undergraduate to Post graduate level at the University of Lagos.
His area of research focus includes; social problems in education, Social change in education, Teacher Education, Sociology of Higher Education social deviances/social disorganizations in education with particular focus on students’ secret cult in Nigeria.
He has published widely in these areas with over 180 publications to his credit. His publications includes; chapters in books; articles that have already appeared in national and international learned journals, His international academic papers appeared in reputable journals based in USA, India, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Uganda, Ghana, Malaysia, UNESCO (France) Japan, Botswana, Switzerland, Vietnam, Cote’d’ivoire, Philippines, Bulgaria, Turkey, The Netherlands, Senegal, South Korea, Poland, Spain Tanzania, Canada, Italy Zambia, Nepal, Kosovo, Kuwait, United Arab Emirate etc.Â
He is a lead expert on Education to NATCOM UNESCO and he consult for Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), Nigeria Port Authority (NPA), UNESCO, Nigeria Governors Forum, UNICEF, etcÂ

Winner of 2008 $10,000 Text Book Writing grant for a Textbook Titled: Teacher Education Systems in Africa in Digital Era. Sponsored by Council for Development of Social Science in Africa (CODESRIA) Senegal. - Visiting Scholar of African-Korean Education Collaborative Exchange Programme. Institute of APEC Collaborative Education (IACE) in close collaboration with the African Development Institute (ADI) of the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) and Pusan National University, held between January 26 and February 9 2015 in Pusan and Seoul, South Korea.
- Fulbright Fellowship as a Visiting Scholar to Southern Illinois University. Carbondale, U.S.A. July 2003- May 2004.
