DR. Adetoun Gladys Emiola

Personal Statement

Dr. Adetoun Emiola was awarded a B.Sc honours degree in Geography, from Usmanu Danfodio University Sokoto (1989). 

Some years later she gained admission into the prestigious University of Lagos to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma (PGDE) in Education (2002); a Master of Education (M.Ed) in Education Geography (2004); and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Education Geography (2015).

 

Dr. Emiola started her academic working career in the Department of Urban and Regional Planning Lagos State Polytechnic, Ikorodu where she taught courses like Geography of Nigeria, Population Studies, Demographic Analysis, and Fisheries in Nigeria.

 She moved to the Department of Arts and Social Sciences Education (Education Geography), University of Lagos in 2009. 

She is currently a Senior Lecturer in the same Department where she teaches courses such as General Principles of Teaching; Introduction to the Teaching Profession; Teaching Geography in the Senior Secondary School; Curriculum in Geography; Introduction to Population Studies; Climatology and Climate change; Population and Economic Development in Nigeria, and Instructional Media & Resources for Map Reading & GIS.

Dr. Emiola serves as facilitator and adjunct lecturer in various educational programmes and organizations

Positions, Scientific Appointments and Honours

She has held and is still holding several positions of responsibility including but not limited to: Sub-Dean Faculty of Education, Staff Adviser Social Sciences Education Students Association (SSESA); Course Adviser to all Education Geography students; Member, Faculty Teaching Practice Committee; member, Examination Committee; Hall Mistress Aliyu Makama Bida female hall. She holds membership of Professional Associations and bodies including Association of Nigerian Geographers, Association of Certified Geographers of Nigeria, International Council of Educational Professionals.

      Authorship: Dr Emiola jointly conceived the study with the other authors. She worked on the aspect of Information system ethics and computer crimes and then the summary and conclusion.

She worked on the theoretical framework and literature review. She developed the research design and instruments while the second author collected and analysed the data. She however concluded the discussion and did the editorial work.
