Department of

Adult Education

Welcome to Department of Adult Education

I would like to heartily welcome you to the Department of Adult Education. The Department is structured for the development of humanity and capacity building. Please understand that it is a privilege to be admitted to read Adult Education, because, this is a course that will not only ‘build’ you as a person, but will also enable you to ‘build’ others. Our focus is to empower you, not only to make sane and rational decisions, but to be self-directing.

As an adult educator, you are to be a change agent. You are expected to open the ‘eyes’ of men to the possibilities in their lives. You therefore, have to believe in change yourself, to know the incompleteness of man and that man is always in the process of ‘becoming’ and striving towards self-actualization. Through the tools that you will be equipped with in the process of your academic career in the Department, you should become a tool in the process of empowering man to ‘become’, so that man can move from the level of ‘primary consciousnesses’ to the level of critical consciousness.

There are a lot of opportunities out there for you as an adult educator, for example: working as a development expert in any of the international Organizations, NGOs, Ministries, Training Institutions, or to be self-employed etc. The key to your success, here in the Department and out there, after your programme, is hard work.

Welcome once again, we wish you the best in your journey, and we are here to support you.

OJO, Ronke Christiana
