Personal Statement
Dr. L.O. Ige is an Associate Professor in the Department of Adult Education, Faculty of Education, University of Lagos, Nigeria and researcher in Adult Education, Community Development, Social welfare and Cooperative Studies at the University of Lagos. With over 20 years of teaching, research, and community engagement, my work focuses on empowering communities through education, cooperative models, and sustainable development.
Teaching Experience
Undergraduate & Postgraduate Courses: Taught over 20 courses, including Introduction to Adult Education, Community Development, Organization and Management of Cooperatives, Research Methods, and Conflict Management, Community Development, Psychology of Adult Learning.
Curriculum Development: Chaired curriculum review committees and designed new courses in community development and cooperative studies.
Supervision: Supervised 128 undergraduate projects, 35 Masters theses, and 1 Ph.D. dissertation, mentoring students to apply theory to real-world community problems.
Community Engagement
Partnerships: Collaborated with NGOs, government agencies, and local communities on projects in womens empowerment, youth development, and cooperative societies.
Outreach: Member of Community Development Association, Solomade Estate, Ikorodu (2013–date); facilitated community participation in development projects across Lagos, Ogun, and Edo States.
Impact: Led initiatives that increased women income by 40% and strengthened community cooperatives for sustainable development.
Mentoring
Served as Cohort Adviser and Course Adviser, guiding students academic progress, research, and career development.
Acted as Staff Adviser to Students’Associations (NUESA, NAAES), fostering leadership and student engagement.
Recognized as the Most Accessible Lecturer, and Best Lecturer multiple times by students and faculty.
