Personal Statement

Dr. Sabainah Oyebola Akinoso is a lecturer and a researcher in Mathematics and STEM Education at the University of Lagos, Nigeria. She holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics Education (2013), Master of Education in Mathematics (2007), and a B.Ed. in Mathematics/Educational Management (2003), all from the University of Ibadan. Also, she holds the Nigerian Certificate of Education in Mathematics/Chemistry from the former Oyo State College of Education, Ilesa.

She is a Fellow of the Science Teacher Association of Nigeria (STAN), a Life Member of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (LMAN), a member of the International Society for Teacher Education (ISfTE), Organisation for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD), Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), Higher Education Leadership and Practitioners Network (HelPnet), AITIE, Global Education Network (GEN), and an editorial board member of the International Journal of the Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Lagos. She is a reviewer of the American Educational Research Association, IJEEE, Cogent Education, Discover Education, IJLTER, among others.

She has a passion for advancing sustainable solutions to mathematics learning difficulties through innovative pedagogy that transforms mathematics abstract nature into real-world experiences, making it more accessible and applicable in today’s volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) world. She has published over 55 peer-reviewed articles and has travelled widely to attend local and international conferences.
