Personal Statement
Dr. Mrs. Olubukola Oluwadasi Longe is an Associate Professor in Counselling Psychology, Department of Educational Foundations, University of Lagos, Akoka. A licensed Counselling Psychologist with over 20 years’ experience, she specializes in mental health, youth development, marital/family wellness, and educational psychology. She holds a B.A.Ed. in Guidance & Counselling, Second Class Upper, plus M.Ed. and Ph.D. in Guidance & Counselling from UNILAG. Her doctoral research focused on counselling techniques for adolescent value clarification and success orientation. She is a Licensed Professional Counsellor of Nigeria LPDCN, Certified Counsellor of Nigeria CCN, and Certified Teacher TRCN.
She teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Guidance & Counselling, Career Counselling, Marital & Family Counselling, and Human Growth & Development. She has supervised 9 Ph.D. and over 118 M.Ed. students, with 44 peer-reviewed publications. She is a seasoned educator, counsellor, and researcher with over 15 years of experience in adolescent mental health, career guidance, and school-based counselling interventions. Her work focuses on building resilience and emotional intelligence in youths. She has facilitated numerous training programmes for teachers and students across Lagos State and has contributed to policy discussions on student welfare on electronic media.
Dr. Longe currently serves as Chairperson, APROCON Lagos State Chapter since Nov 2024, where she leads workshops and advocates for counselling regulation. An Associate Pastor and Counsellor at Foursquare Gospel Church, Jakande Estate, she blends scholarship with service. Married with three children, her vision is to raise emotionally intelligent, value-driven Nigerians through professional counselling and education.
