Personal Statement
Patrick Olujenyo AKINSANYA is a thorough-bred academic at the professorial cadre in the Department of Educational Foundations, University of Lagos, Akinsanya holds a Bachelor’s degree in Philosophy (B.A. Hons) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE); three master degrees in Philosophy (M.A.), Business Administration (MBA) and Educational Management (M.Ed.), and a Doctor of Philosophy degree (Ph.D.) at the University of Ibadan.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Management Consultants; a Certified Management Consultant, and a Chartered Member of Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered. With these background training, he has over the years metamorphosed to a bourgeoning authority in the field of Philosophy of Education and Educational Management, while his delineated areas of research are – education policy analysis; critical & creative pedagogy; and educational administration.
He has authored, co-authored, edited and co-edited several books in these research areas. He equally has numerous research articles in the mentioned areas in reputable national and international journals. Akinsanya is a renowned philosopher (of education); an avowed critico-creative pedagogical expert; and a professional, certified, established and experienced educational manager.
He is the current National Editor-in-Chief of Nigerian Journal of Educational Philosophy (NJEP) of Philosophers of Education Association of Nigeria (PEAN). He is a member of Philosophy Association of Nigeria (PAN); an international member of American Philosophical Association (APA); an international member of Teaching and Education Research Association (TERA); a chartered member of Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered (NIM); a fellow of Institute of Management Consultants (IMC); and a Grade A member of Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).
He is the Founder/Proprietor & Lead-researcher at Home of Grace Citadel of Learning, Ijebu-Imusin, Ogun State, a model secondary school where educational philosophies and ideas are incubated, as best pedagogical approaches and practices are nurtured. The school, which he fondly calls – a critico-creative laboratory, has within the spate of few years, become a classical model in the whole of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State. This is not unconnected with his pedagogical proficiency, philosophical sagacity and managerial acumen in handling the affairs of the school.
For his active involvement in the growth and development of the society, Akinsanya has been recognized and decorated with many laurels in the academic world, the Church and community. He has received some awards and recognitions such as Ambassadorial awards; Award of Excellence in Management & Leadership; Merit Award as the Most Resourceful Lecturer of the year; Best Lecturer of the year; Most Outstanding Lecturer of the year; inter alia.
